The calendar has turned to October and the Red River Valley sugarbeet harvest is beginning to ramp up. “I’ve got three things to say,” said Harrison Weber, executive director, Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association. “God bless our troops; God bless America, and gentlemen, start your engines.” Warm daytime temperatures remain something growers and processors will need to manage. Weber says safety is another priority as beet trucks return to area roads. “We will get the beets into the pile and if we do so safely, good things will come along with that.”
