The corn crop has been under extreme stress, ranging from hot, dry weather in July to the current wet conditions. “Concerns can pop up such as lodging, stalk issues, all sorts of other challenges come across,” said TeeJay Hagen, field agronomist, Mustang Seeds. “Pay close attention to fields that maybe are showing some of those issues and putting those at the top of the list to harvest.” High fertilizer prices are a consideration as farmers plan for next year. Hagan encourages growers to sit down with their agronomist or seed advisor to build a plan around their crop fertility needs.
