Brent crude jumped more than three percent in Monday trading, moving above $107 per barrel after President Trump rejected Iran’s latest proposal for reopening the strait. Iran offered to restore normal shipping within seven days if the United States met several conditions, including easing military pressure and lifting its blockade of Iranian ports. The Strait of Hormuz carried roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply before the conflict sharply reduced commercial shipping through the waterway.
