The Omaha-based grain company owes BMO Bank more than $50 million, and an attorney for Hansen-Mueller says the bank is unlikely to be paid back in full. At the center of the dispute is who has the first claim on money from Hansen-Mueller’s remaining grain sales, the bank or two insurance companies that provided bonds to protect farmers. Hansen-Mueller is also asking the court to extend its deadline for filing its Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan from September until November.
