Spring Creek Ag owner Ron Truax says soybean yields are better than expected on some of the region’s stronger ground, despite widespread drought stress. “It’s not a great crop, but where they’re good, they’re pretty good.” Lighter soils have fared poorly in the Litchville, North Dakota area. Recent rain has slowed fieldwork, and Truax said too little corn has been harvested to judge that crop yet. Drought was the biggest challenge this season, although Truax said some isolated areas also suffered some hail damage.
