With fertilizer costs climbing, Sound Agriculture Vice President of Agronomy Jeff Divan is emphasizing a season-long approach to crop nutrition. Divan said splitting nutrient applications can help reduce losses and avoid nutrient imbalances. “More applications more often, as late as possible, and then we will leverage biology to fill in any gaps.” Divan said heavy ammonium applications can also temporarily disrupt soil biology and affect early-season root development. Sound Agriculture has introduced INFLECT, a seed-applied biological designed for corn production systems that rely heavily on anhydrous ammonia and manure.
