North Dakota Farm Bureau President Val Wagner said members want rural communities to have a meaningful role as development decisions are made. “A lot of conversations are going to be around rural communities and our rural areas and how to empower them to feel like they are actively engaged and involved in the situations and the discussions that happen around land use, zoning, permitting, all of that.” Wagner said the goal is for local residents to feel they are part of the process rather than having development simply happen around them. “Again, being more proactive about those conversations and not just reactive.” Wagner was featured in a RRFN forum Thursday at the Big Iron Farm Show.
