At Mayville, North Dakota, Tim Garrett isn’t expecting much from his remaining acres. The edible beans produced about half of a normal crop. Soybeans have been hurt by the late-season heat and dry conditions. “They dropped their flowers and didn’t pod, and the pods that are there are maybe one- or two-bean pods with very small beans,” said Garrett. “If we get 20 bushels, I’ll be surprised.” Garrett is hoping for corn yields of 80 to 100 bushels per acre. “I’m not too optimistic about what’s left.”
