Agriculture Undersecretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Luke Lindberg is being appointed executive director of the United Nations World Food Program. Lindberg, who was nominated for the position by the Trump Administration, previously founded South Dakota Trade and had been the chief strategy officer for the Export-Import Bank. Cindy McCain had been in this role, but stepped down in June to focus on her health. Lindberg’s Rome-based appointment is for five years.
