Farmers need markets if they’re going to prosper. U.S. Farmers and Ranchers in Action CEO Kevin Burkum says biofuels can be a bigger part of that opportunity. “We need more share of the global fuel market, Burkum told RRFN. “We need all of it for agriculture to thrive.” There’s been a lot of talk about renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel, but the maritime market may be a bigger deal. “Maersk, which is one of the largest shippers in the world, has one ship that’s running on 100 percent ethanol and it’s performing very well for them. There’s a lot of genuine excitement about the future.” Burkum spoke at the Next 5 Years Conference in Fargo.
