American Crystal Sugar Company, Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative, United Sugar and other sugarbeet and sugarcane companies are facing allegations of conspiring to fix sugar prices. General Mills, Mars and other large food companies filed the federal lawsuit, claiming sugar companies shared confidential competitive information to control prices. This lawsuit was filed in Chicago.
