USDA will get its first field-based look at crop yields in Friday’s September production report. World Agricultural Outlook Board Chairman Mark Jekanowski said USDA has reached the point in the growing season where objective field assessments can provide more information about crop size. “We’re really at the stage where we can go out there and do some real objective assessments of the size of the crop based on yield sampling,” Jekanowski said. The surveys include field measurements and crop counts to provide additional information following periods of intense summer heat. USDA’s Crop Production and World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates reports are scheduled for release Friday at 11 a.m.Central.
