Dry August conditions accelerated crop development around Starbuck and Glenwood, Minnesota. Paul Freeman said soybeans could begin coming off soon. “We petered out on our rain dance in August and we had close to an inch over the weekend (of September 5-6), but that was the first rain for about a month and the yield took a hit.” Late-season stress is also creating harvest concerns. “We got to watch out for corn dropping ears and beans getting too dry and shelling out in the field,” said Freeman. “We don’t have the super crop we wanted, but there’s still a crop out there.”
