Senate Democrats, led by Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, are raising concerns about the proposed reorganization of USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. In a letter to USDA Deputy Secretary Stephen Vaden, the lawmakers point to the loss of more than 25 percent of the FAS workforce since the end of 2024. The proposed move of the agency to Kansas City could further affect staffing. The lawmakers cite a survey from an FAS union indicating fewer than four percent of current employees plan to relocate to Kansas City.
