The Trump Administration’s beef import plan to lower the tariff on lean beef trimmings takes effect Tuesday. The 300,000 metric tons in foreign beef imports will be done in three tranches, with one-third of that total done on a first-come, first-serviced basis during the month of September. President Trump said the imported beef would be sold 25 percent lower than the current market price, but the mechanics for that part of the plan has not been announced.
