Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association President Darren Hoyme says the dryness impacted the beet crop. “Our tonnage is down compared to probably past years at this time, but the trade-off of less tons is that our sugar is really high.” Hoyme, who farms at Kindred, North Dakota, hopes to catch a couple of rains before long to “help with harvesting conditions and would also help get a few more tons out there.”
