Near Rugby, North Dakota, Steve Fritel describes his early wheat yields as “respectable.” The crop began the year with good soil moisture, but the prolonged dry stretch is becoming a concern. Soybeans are beginning to show stress. “I think the July 4th timeframe is probably the last measurable precip we’ve had,” said Fritel. “We’ve had some showers with .10 or .20, but that doesn’t go very far.”
