Dry edible bean crops across North Dakota and Minnesota are showing the effects of drought and extreme heat. North Central Commodities General Manager Dylan Karley is seeing significant drought stress. “What we’re seeing is a crop that in a lot of cases looks good from the road, but looks pretty poor when you’re on your feet in the field.” Numerous plants have aborted pods, reducing yield potential. “We’re going to have one of the lower average yields that we’ve seen in a number of years.”
