Terrain Grain and Oilseed Analyst Brie Baatz says crop conditions improved noticeably as the Pro Farmer Crop Tour moved from Nebraska into southwestern Iowa. “We saw a lot more white mold and pest pressure on the beans” in Nebraska, Baatz said. In five Iowa fields, she found only one soybean plant with a small amount of white mold. Corn conditions also improved moving east. Her Nebraska route averaged about 160 bushels per acre, and yields are expected to be below last year’s levels. Western bean cutworm was found in nearly every Nebraska cornfield surveyed.
