Tyson Foods has stopped processing cattle at its Joslin, Illinois plant. The company also closed a beef facility in Utah and is selling its Pasco, Washington plant. Beef demand is not the problem. There are fewer cattle available for processing. Fed cattle plants are running at about 78 to 81 percent of capacity. Packers have also been losing close to $200 per head.
