Agriculture isn’t simply another vertical in the marketing world. Ten Acre Marketing Founder and CEO Leah Halverson says effectively reaching farmers and agribusinesses requires an understanding of the industry, its language and the people behind it. “Farmers can sniff out a fake in about two seconds,” Halverson said. “When you’re doing ag marketing, it’s not just what’s the biggest bells and whistles in the marketing world, but what really translates into that ag market.” When an agricultural business or organization is looking for a marketing partner, Halverson encourages them to work with someone who already knows the language and landscape. Authenticity also requires understanding what is happening beyond the marketing campaign, including farm economics, weather, agricultural policy and supply and demand.
