Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen says agriculture continues to face challenges from input costs, tariffs and tight livestock supplies, but there are also opportunities. “There’s a lot of possibility, like sustainable aviation fuel,” Petersen said. He also pointed to domestic fertilizer production, rebuilding the cattle herd and strengthening local markets as areas with potential. Petersen says year-round E15 could provide more certainty for Minnesota’s ethanol industry. “Minnesota is tops in the nation in the number of E15 pumps,” Petersen said, adding that increased availability is driving record monthly E15 sales in the state.
