Trade with Canada and Mexico was a key focus at the Midwest Agricultural Export Summit. South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson said USMCA remains a strong agreement. “USMCA is the greatest trade deal in the history of humankind,” said Johnson. “That doesn’t mean that it’s perfect.” Johnson believes improvements can be made without changing the entire agreement. “This is already an incredibly good piece of work and it does not need overhaul.” Senate Majority Leader John Thune said there is a lot at stake. Thune said he is “a big believer in how effective that trade relationship has been, that agreement has been, and frankly would like to see more of those.”
