Dry weather continues to take a toll on crops in southeast North Dakota. Edgeley farmer Mike Brandenburg says weeks of heat and limited rainfall have reduced yield potential. “I can easily say there’s no 200-bushel corn out there this year.” Soybeans are also showing stress as plants abort pods. “If we don’t get any rain fairly soon, it’s definitely going to go from being a smaller crop to a disaster crop.” Brandenburg said high input costs are also limiting additional investment in the crop, adding, “The numbers just don’t work.”
