Prolonged heat and dry weather are taking a toll on central North Dakota crops. Mandan farmer Dennis Renner says barley is yielding around 75 bushels per acre, but the recent heat has changed crop prospects. “Everything looked super good on the Fourth of July, but the last three weeks of this heat have taken a toll.” Renner says corn pollinated during the hottest part of the summer, raising concerns about yield. “I suspect that’s not going to be the best.”
