Hot temperatures and limited rainfall are taking a toll on crops in southwest Minnesota. Lake Benton farmer Bob Worth says the lighter soils are showing the greatest stress. “It’s very dry. You can really tell it on the lighter soil. A lot of the beans are brown already, and the corn is fired from the bottom to the top.” Worth says even fields with better soils are beginning to struggle after weeks of heat.
