CROPLAN Alfalfa and Forage Specialist Jeff Jackson says the crop got off to an early start before cooler weather slowed development. “Will it grow or just stay dormant or are we going to have a patchy, mangy ,squirrel-looking field out there where we’re just going to have little patches everywhere? It looks like the it’s going to be tough.” He said cattle producers are already looking at ways to stretch limited forage supplies. Jackson spoke at the WinField United Answer Plot Field Day near Washburn, North Dakota, saying it is a unique event is designed to help farmers evaluate new technology and management practices. “Growers are able to bring home some good nuggets instead of just going and getting a free hot dog and looking at a seed guide.
