At Kulm, North Dakota, Bart Schott said this growing season looks much different than a year ago. “Last year was so cool and now this year it’s hot, but we’ve been getting a few rains here that have really kept the crop in okay condition.” Schott said the heat has pushed crop maturity ahead of normal. In his case, the barley harvest is starting ahead of the normal pace.”
