Minnesota Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach is urging the Environmental Protection Agency to restore access to chlorpyrifos, calling the insecticide a critical crop protection tool for U.S. farmers. Fischbach led a group of lawmakers in asking EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin to reverse what they describe as Biden-era regulatory overreach and base future decisions on the agency’s scientific findings. The letter argues restricting chlorpyrifos increases production costs, limits pest control options and threatens domestic food production. The effort is backed by several major farm organizations, including the American Farm Bureau Federation, American Soybean Association, American Sugarbeet Growers Association and the National Association of Wheat Growers.
