Another stretch of extreme heat is expected to intensify crop and livestock stress across the region this week. North Dakota State Climatologist Daryl Ritchison said the forecast offers little relief, with only isolated chances for rainfall. Warm overnight temperatures are another concern. “The areas with the highest density of corn will have the most difficult time getting below 70 degrees at night, and it’s really going to be a week before we get any significant cool-down.” Looking ahead, Ritchison expects harvest weather may not be as favorable as farmers have enjoyed in recent years. “We’ve had so many really nice falls lately that this one just might be a little more disappointing.”
