Crookston, Minnesota farmer Brian Boll said dry conditions are taking a toll on his crops, particularly on lighter soils. “We’re in dire need of rain right now if we’re going to maintain top yields,” said Boll. “The corn is hanging in there, but the sand ridges are already burning up. The beans are still hanging on, but once those lighter areas start going backwards, the better ground usually follows.”
