USDA is investing $3 million to develop wetland mitigation banks. Through this program, wetlands that are restored or enhanced are eligible for credits that can be purchased by farmers looking to offset unavoidable impacts to wetlands at another location. Priority will be given to states with significant wetland acres and conservation compliance requests. Eleven states are on that list, including Minnesota and South Dakota.
