The North Dakota Beef Commission is bringing beef education to the University of North Dakota through the school’s Sports Nutrition Program. Student-athletes are learning how beef fits into a high-performance diet. NDBC Executive Director Nicole Wardner said the program emphasizes both nutrition and balanced eating. “We know that beef is a complete protein and it has all of the amino acids that your body needs to function,” said Wardner. “When we’re talking about performance athletes, it has all of the things they need to perform at a higher level, but we don’t just promote beef. We also promote a balanced plate and making sure they have all of the things that are necessary for them to compete at a high level.” Wardner said programs like this are funded through beef checkoff dollars and give North Dakota cattle producers an opportunity to connect directly with consumers while promoting the nutritional value and versatility of beef.
