Fertilizer prices are expected to remain elevated as growers prepare for fall applications. StoneX Vice President of Fertilizer Josh Linville said global supply disruptions and tightening inventories leave little hope for lower prices before fall fieldwork begins. “We’re running out of time for things to improve,” Linville said. “Unfortunately, I think we’re talking higher prices.” Linville said nitrogen prices have already increased significantly, while phosphate markets remain especially tight despite the suspension of duties on Moroccan phosphate imports. China’s sharply reduced phosphate exports continue to be one of the biggest factors supporting higher prices worldwide.
