The lack of rainfall is beginning to take a toll on crops in eastern North Dakota. Arthur farmer Kevin Skunes said conditions deteriorated after rain shut off about three weeks ago, especially on lighter soils. “Our land that’s west of Arthur is a little sandier. The land that’s a little further east towards the Red River is a little heavier and holding on a little bit better.” Skunes believes his soybeans are handling the dry conditions well.
