A coalition of activist groups, including Earthjustice and the Humane World for Animals, are threatening to sue the Interior Department if it doesn’t stop its latest action on the Endangered Species Act. The Interior Department, through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, plans to end the blanket 4d rule which means newly listed threatened species cannot be automatically protected under federal law. The Trump Administration rule change would change its ‘critical habitat’ designation when considering the economic and national security impacts with that label.
