Farm policy development was on the chore list for South Dakota Farmers Union members this past week. District Three Board Member Gail Temple said members support restoring the competition title that was removed from the farm bill nearly two decades ago. “If it was put back in, they could focus more on Packers and Stockyards, right-to-repair, COOL and some of the other big issues farmers have been facing.” Temple said members also discussed livestock marketing concerns, including difficulties producers face when ownership questions delay payment after cattle have already been sold.
