South Dakota Farmers Union members are outlining policy priorities ahead of the organization’s annual convention, with the Farm Bill remaining a top focus. District 3 Board Member Gail Temple said members want Congress to restore a competition title that was removed in 2008, “One thing that we always seem to work on is the farm bill. As you know, we are many years behind on having a farm bill implemented. We just feel like if it was put back in, they could focus more on the Packers and Stockyards, the Right to Repair, MCOOL and some of the other big issues that farmers have been facing,” said Temple. Policy recommendations from the district meetings will move forward for consideration at the South Dakota Farmers Union Annual Convention in December.
