U.S. agriculture is facing the sixth consecutive year of losses, and the picture isn’t getting any better for 2027. According to the new Market Intel report from the American Farm Bureau Federation, farmers who grow the nine main row crops will lose $32 billion in 2027. That’s on top of a projected $31 billion loss this year. On a per-acre basis, corn losses will range from $131 to $167 per acre. For soybeans, it’s $80 to $138, and for wheat, the losses will range from $114 to $145 per acre. The report said farmers need near-term economic assistance and longer-term policy changes, including passage of the farm bill and year-round E15.
