Despite extensive replanting, this year’s sugarbeet crop is progressing well. “We lost 30,000 to 35,000 acres to the wind and had to be replanted, but those are coming along really well,” said SES VanderHave Regional Sales Manager Nick Revier. “We’re right on track with last year’s crop, which set a record for yield.” The next challenge will be Cercospora leaf spot. “We have so much inoculum carried over from last year that we’re going to have plenty of it. We’ve got the heat, we’ve got the humidity and if we get a little bit of rain or we’re getting these dews overnight, that’s just the perfect conditions for Cercospora leaf spot to grow.”
