At Wyndmere, North Dakota, Carson Klosterman said much of the early-planted corn has entered the tasseling stage. “The corn is starting to stretch out with this nice weather we’ve had,” said Klosterman. “Some of the early stuff is getting into the reproductive stage.” The crop has good yield potential, but moisture will be critical through pollination and grain fill. “The stand is there, so now the plant needs to set the cob and we need weather so that we can pollinate and fill that cob,” he said. “If we get moisture, it could be an awful nice crop. If moisture does not follow through, what could be great can turn average or below average real quick.”
