Dry weather has taken a toll on winter wheat yields in western Nebraska. Gary Paplow, a custom harvester from Worthington, Minnesota, said yields have ranged from 20 to 50 bushels per acre. “It’s hit and miss.” Paplow said his crew has essentially finished harvesting in Nebraska and is preparing to head north. “We’re getting ready to move to Montana,” he said. “There was some winterkill out there, but I think some of the wheat is going to be pretty decent. The spring crops look pretty good because they got the rain at the right time.”
