According to Leon Bulgin of Hoffman Harvesting, the winter wheat harvest began about two weeks ahead of normal in Kansas, with yields ranging from single digits to 60 bushels per acre.”We had a lot of hail-damaged wheat,” Bulgin told RRFN. “At the end of the day, it was disappointing because much of the crop that was there ended up getting hailed out.” Bulgin is now moving crews to Pierce, South Dakota, where harvest has yet to begin. “Everything is so early that I think we’ll eventually catch ourselves waiting, especially in Montana and North Dakota.”
