USDA has accepted 2.2 million acres into the 2026 Conservation Reserve Program after receiving offers totaling nearly 2.5 million acres. Enrollment remained competitive because the program is capped at 27 million acres. The CRP provides annual rental payments to farmers who place environmentally sensitive land into conservation practices that reduce erosion, improve water quality and enhance wildlife habitat. Nebraska, Colorado and South Dakota accounted for the largest number of accepted acres.
