If wet weather continues, there will be ideal conditions for white mold. Pioneer Field Agronomist Eric Rice said growers should closely monitor fields with a history of the disease. “With the kind of advanced crop growth we’ve had this year, our canopy is much thicker and fuller than the last couple of years. When we have that full canopy, you’re most likely going to have less airflow and better conditions for the disease to flourish.” Mother Nature will determine the extent of the white mold issue. “It’ll all depend on the environment in late July and throughout August.”
