Dry edible bean acreage is down 15 percent from last year. North Dakota had the biggest swing, with dry bean acres down 135,00 from last year. Canola acreage is record high, up 13 percent from last year. The amount of ground seeded to canola in North Dakota is up 30 percent from last year and is a new record high. Barley acres across the country are up six percent. The area devoted to sunflowers is up five percent with South Dakota having the largest increase in acreage from last year. Sugarbeet acreage is down four percent, and potato acreage declined three percent from 2025.
