Despite another wet spring, crops in central North Dakota are off to one of their best starts in years. Hurdsfeld farmer Terry Weckerly says corn development is well ahead of normal, although recent rains are beginning to raise concerns about excess moisture. The crop has overcome a challenging spring and now has plenty of potential if favorable weather continues. “Life is good,” said Weckerly. “We got the crop in, and this spring it looked miserable; we fought the mud, we fought the mud, and we fought the mud. We got it in and it got decent, and it looks like we got good stands on everything. If we can escape the big white combine, it might be something we’re putting in the bin.”
