AgMarket.Net analyst Tyler Schau says high fertilizer costs and localized planting challenges likely trimmed corn acreage. “We feel like those factors are going to pull some of the corn acreage down,” Schau said. “We probably would have seen an even lower number if December corn hadn’t rallied to about $5.60 during planting season. That rally likely kept some of those intended corn acres from switching to other crops.”
