A senior White House advisor says the Trump administration is working to address challenges facing cattle producers, including market concentration and access to grazing land. Speaking at the R-CALF USA National Convention in Rapid City, trade counselor Peter Navarro criticized policies from the previous administration. “That’s exactly what Joe Biden and his merry band of veggie burger bureaucrats did to American ranchers, they took millions of grazing acres out of circulation under the false flag of climate change. We’re working hard to get that grazing land back into your hands.” Navarro also targeted consolidation within the beef packing industry. Navarro said the administration is pursuing efforts to increase competition in the livestock sector and pointed to recent Justice Department actions as part of that strategy.
