Iron deficiency chlorosis is becoming more visible in soybean fields across north central North Dakota, and agronomists say growers should take note as they evaluate crop performance this season. “We’ve had fields that have the yellowing, even in maybe I’d say non-traditional areas,” said Mark Torno, sales agronomist, North Border Seed. “Normally, you see it in a low spot on the edge of a mucky area or something like that. This time we’re seeing it in random spots in the field or even on a side hill.” Canola should be scouted for flea beetle pressure. For sunflowers, “make sure that the pre or the burndown worked effectively enough that you’re ready to do a shot to clean it up before the sunflowers progress along.”
